Appointments

Patients are seen by appointment only. We follow the Bright Futures Guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatrics for preventive well child visits, from newborn through the adolescent years. Please make your child's well child visit appointment six to eight weeks in advance. Try to schedule your recheck appointment at the desk as you are checking out. When calling for an appointment, please tell the staff the purpose for the appointment, so we can allocate sufficient time for the visit. Call early in the day for same day illness appointments. If you are going to be late for an appointment, we ask that you contact the office. If you need to cancel an appointment, we request 24 hour notice.

We make every effort to see your child at your scheduled time. However, if there is a delay, please realize that it is because a patient is unexpectedly in need of a little extra time, emergency interruptions, or communications from other physicians on patient related matters.

Nighttime & Weekend Coverage

Dr. Bhatt is easily accessible through the office telephone line or via Lock Haven Hospital Operator at (570)893-5000. Occasionally, after hours calls are answered by our RN Call Center at (570)326-8116. Dr Bhatt will answer emergency calls every day until 11:00 PM. After 11:00 PM, we prefer that you call our RN Call Center at (570)326-8116, which will provide emergency advice.

Emergency

For a life threatening emergency, please call 911

If your child needs to be seen at the Emergency Room or Urgent Care Center, please go to the nearest facility. It is best not to use the emergency room for routine medical problems which could be handled during regular office hours, since we are familiar with your child's health. Please attempt to call Dr. Bhatt before going to an after-hours urgent care facility or to an emergency room unless you believe your child has a serious problem requiring immediate medical attention.

If the office is open, we will usually be able to see the child the same day. Please try to contact the office as early in the day as possible to make an illness appointment.

If you decide to take your child to the Emergency Room or Urgent Care Center, please request they send your child's visit related information, including x-rays and laboratory results, to our office.

Insurance and Billing

We accept most traditional insurance plans. Please call our office to verify acceptance of your plan.

Payment is requested at the time services are rendered for any charges not covered by insurance or any deductibles and/or co-pays. Our staff will assist you, if you have any questions regarding insurance and billing. We consider both parents/guardians responsible for the bills incurred.

Specialist Appointment & Referrals

Our office needs to be notified of all specialist appointments that need a referral at least 1 week before the appointment. This will allow time to do the referral and notify the specialist of the referral number. We will not back date any referral. If you see a specialist and do not call ahead of time or forget to call for the referral, you will be responsible for the bill with the specialist.

When calling for a referral, please provide the following information:

  • Patient's name
  • Patient's date of birth
  • Insurance company's name and ID number
  • Specialist's name
  • Specialist's phone/ fax number
